The Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer Associate certification proves you can design, develop, test, and maintain solutions based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
As a certified developer, you build extensions and apps using the AL language and Visual Studio Code — extending tables, pages, reports, and codeunits, integrating Business Central with the Power Platform via APIs, and managing upgrades, debugging, and performance. You work closely with functional consultants and solution architects to deliver reliable, upgradable solutions.
What the exam covers
The MB-820 exam measures six skill areas. The largest by far is developing with AL objects — tables, pages, reports, codeunits, XMLports, and queries (35–40%). The rest covers AL development (15–20%), describing Business Central architecture, installing and deploying extensions, working with development tools, and integrating with other applications via REST and APIs.
